Interesting places to visit in and around Shepton Mallet

Cheddar Gorge is one of the natural wonders of Britain with its stunning views and show caves. It makes a fun day out for all the family

Steamed up, take a visit to the East Somerset Railway, explore the carriage sheds and have a ride on this lovely little preserved railway
Why not visit one of the many events taking place at the Royal Bath and West Showground

Longleat house (the home of Lord Bath)
Longleat offers a fantastic day out for the whole family with riverboat rides, a tour of the safari park visit to the house, and many other attractions including the world-famous Longleat maize (if you've got plenty of time on your hands). I still get lost every time I venture in

A spectacular Gothic revival house, created by William Gibbs, who built his fortune on fertiliser.Spiralling turrets and pinnacles, ornate stone carvings and church-like windows, giving the feel of a mysterious, fairytale mansion. With terraced lawns and sprawling parkland. It makes a wonderful setting for a picnic, one of the National trust's finest properties. I find myself drawn back again and again

    Overall Guest Rating

We had an excellent stay, the bedroom was spotless, as was the bathroom. Lovely self service kitchen and the owners were even kind enough to invite me and my partner to the local pub for the evening. Great location for taking in the country-side and also for sightseeing. Sadly we had a short time to visit, Hopefully we can come back soon.
