Our family really enjoyed visiting this zoo. Particularly the great window where you can watch the seals swim past. They have a lot of great animals who all seem pretty content. The day we went the elephant and zoo keeper came onto the lawn while we were eating our picnic lunch! They have good facilities available so you can spend a whole day there if you want. Take insect repellent. We got ravaged by mosquitoes as we sat by a very lovely Japanese pond.

Beautiful green space in Auckland City Centre. The 75ha park has been developed around the cone of an extinct volcano. Lovely gardens to walk around and the Auckland Museum within The Domain.

Such a lovely, clean and relaxing gallery with a lot of good art to see but not so much that you leave shattered and all art'ed out! Lovely cafe there too. Right beside Albert Park for a walk before or afterwards.

Set in the bushy Domian in what has to be Auckland's most incredible neo-classic style glamorous stone building is the Museum. It's well worth a visit and is really great for the kids. There are a couple of good cafes there too or your in walking distance of Parnell.

This is THE place in Auckland. The venue is amazing right in front of all the yachts and the food and service is just perfect. The waiting staff are so attentive that you don't even need to fill up your own water glass! Food is delicious and the atmosphere great whether your in for eats or in for drinks.

The most amazing cafe/bakery food in Auckland in a quaint and quirky atmosphere. They also have a sister shop in Newmarket.

Located in the Langham hotel, definitely not your typical hotel restaurant and worth a visit even if you're not staying there. There is an extensive selection of food from the 'eight' kitchens from all corners of the world. You need to go hungry as it is buffet style (which again makes it sound not so appealing but it is the fanciest buffet I have ever seen (bill to match). You can choose specialty meats like kangaroo or ostrich (as well as regulars) they cook in front of you, or you can just help yourself to all the other options including a dessert bar, you will likely be going back for seconds or thirds. I plan to visit again next time I'm in Auckland that's for sure.

New Zealand's cafe scene is nothing short of great and this cafe proves it. Good cafe, food and vibe. Highly recommend.

Great coffee in the CBD. Tiny cafe on the trendy High Street.

    City of Sails

Auckland is often called the "City of Sails", due to the large number of yachts and other boats you will see in the harbour. 1/3 of Aucklanders own a boat of some sort and the per capita yacht ownership is the highest in the world.
