Quite a nice artificial lake with walks, kayaks, birds and a cafe. It needs a bit of work on the tracks and fences but all in all a good day out with the kids.

One of New Zealand's best wild life parks. There are good tracks with amazing bird life. You can attend talks and feeding times or have a coffee on the deck of the cafe.

This is one of New Zealand's best wineries. Open most days from 10am for tastings and also sells direct to the public from the cellar door. Lovely grounds and they allow you to take your own picnic.

Built in 1894 as the town's library, it is now set out as a colonial cottage and displays photos, records and artefacts of early Martinborough.

    Spices of India Restaurant

A friendly indian restaurant. Really good food, authentic and reasonable. Lovely staff and a relaxed atmosphere.

Good cafe all round. Best coffee in town with nice cabinet food and a fairly extensive menu option.

An awesome wee authentic thai restaurant and takeaway to find in a small town. Excellent food and good service.

A wee restaurant attached to a boutique cinema, which shows the latest films. Very good food and service. There is a large open fire which makes the place feel cosy during winter. One of the nicest set ups I've seen.

A nice restaurant set in a vineyard. Great staff and a wide variety of food, even from the set menu. Able to do a tasting while you wait for your table, and they offer a shuttle service to and from your accommodation.

    Mediterranean Climate

Beacause of the location of Masterton in the Wairarapa valley has it's own micro climate. It has the same weather as the Mediterranean, which is unusual for this section of New Zealand.
