    Hermitage of San Antonio de la Florida (Ermita de San Antonio)

    Goya's final resting place and many of his paintings hang here too. Worth a visit!

    National Archeological Musuem (Museo Arqueologico Nacional)

    This museum covers all eras and cultures. There is so much to see it is wonderful. You could spend a whole day here.

    If your into photojournalism this is a wonderful place to visit while in Madrid. Many exhibits to view!

    Most impressive site in Madrid. Beautiful building that is still used by the current Monarch as a State Palace.

    Restaurante La Gaditana

    Excellent food at good prices, and great with children. A real restaurant, not a tourist place. Highly recommended.

    The food is simple but lovely. The set menu costs 19.95 euro and comes with a bottle of water, a drink, a starter, main dish and a desert. Very good value for money.

    A small place with only 6 tables but very busy so you must book ahead. Beautiful food at a good price. Also probably one of the best wine cellars on the island.

    This exciting, vibrant eatery is tucked away in the back streets of Plaza de Espana. This is modern Spanish cuisine at its best.

    A funky cocktail bar down a wee lane, not far from La Rambla. They have amazing Latin American hot dogs and yummy nachos.

    Spend a day in Montserrat

    This place is incredible. The buildings are overwhelming and there are several hikes you can do whilst in the mountains.

    Hang out in Retiro Park (Parque del Retiro)

    This is the biggest park close to downtown Madrid, it has an area of 12 hectares. King Felipe IV constructed it in 1632 as part of his Buen Retiro Palace.

    Hunt out Piscinas de Fajana

    In the north east, where its hard to find good sea access, these sea water pools are worth hunting out.

    There are quite a few surf schools in El Cotillo and this is a great surfing stop to come to if your after surf in Spain.
