An interactive, evolving museum in Inverness/Loch Ness with nautical artefacts & large ships: e.g. 1:10 scale Titanic, Buckie drifter, RNLI lifeboat & more..

Knockan Crag is easy to find and well signed from the A835 north of Ullapool. There is a good car park and the path to the Rock Room (an open air information centre) is clear and easy.

From the boat you see some porpoise, a couple varieties of seals, sea eagles, etc. The captain is very knowledgeable and shares a lot of history from the area. Would definitely recommend.

This is quite small and run for the love of serpents rather than as a zoo. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about their residents.

The workshop is small but full of beautiful candles, with a lovely scent. The owner/candle-maker was busily making candles when I arrived but greeted me warmly and chatted, whilst he worked.

Great fish lots of chips and great service also the curry sauce is to die for. Great location situated just across the road from the harbour and the beach looking out to the loch.

A really great place within easy reach of the town. Always head here for coffee or lunch when visiting Ullapool. Laid back atmosphere, with a lovely bookshop to browse before or after.

From the outside it looks like any other small town pub. The menu here has a great mixture of modern and traditional Scottish fare. Everything we had was cooked and presented to a high standard and very tasty. Friendly service.

If you want to have yourselves great, cakes, scones and tea this is the place to go. Nice inside, real china cups, great selection of teas and goodies to die for. The shop closes for the winter starting late Sept/early Oct.

Very simple menu, playing on the strengths of the area - good cheeses, fish, meat and salads, plus great home baking and good quality coffee. Really cosy surroundings, with nice art on the walls.

    Visit The Bone Caves

The Bone caves are off the A837, near Inchnadamph. The path is easy to follow although the last stretch up to the caves takes a bit of care. Take a torch to explore the back of the caves.

    Visit Faerie Glen

Well worth a trip here while on Skye. Fantastic to explore around all about all the small hills and rock formations. Just make sure you check the location on a map first, as it is not signposted.
